About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and driven Procurement Executive based in Lagos, Nigeria, to join our team in the shipping and maritime sector. This full-time position entails managing the entire procurement lifecycle to ensure seamless, cost-efficient acquisition of goods and services that support company operations.
Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and select suppliers prioritizing quality, cost, reliability, and delivery efficiency.
- Solicit quotations, compare pricing, and negotiate contracts with favorable terms and payment schedules.
- Generate and track purchase orders to enable timely procurement processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement requirements and guarantee prompt supply.
- Monitor supplier deliveries, resolving any delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Develop and nurture vendor partnerships while overseeing supplier performance.
- Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stockouts or surplus.
- Conduct ongoing market research to pinpoint potential suppliers, novel products, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Ensure all procurement actions adhere to company policies, contracts, and relevant regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive procurement records, including supplier databases, contracts, and purchase documentation.
- Prepare detailed procurement performance reports, spending analyses, and metrics for management review.
- Coordinate with the finance department to reconcile supplier invoices and facilitate timely payments.
- Contribute to strategic sourcing and process improvement efforts aimed at enhancing efficiency and minimizing expenses.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics, or related disciplines.
- Five to seven years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or similar relevant experience.
- Possession of CIPS certification or an equivalent professional credential is advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of procurement workflows, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
- Familiarity with procurement or ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong negotiation abilities, effective communication, analytical thinking, organizational skills, and problem-solving aptitude.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, keen attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Capability to manage several priorities simultaneously, operate under pressure, and meet deadlines efficiently.
