Mining & Exploration Specialist

About This Role

We are inviting applications for the position of Mining & Exploration Specialist based in Abuja, Nigeria. This full-time role is within a diversified conglomerate focusing on expanding its presence in the mining and mineral resource sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in mineral exploration tasks including geological studies, resource location, field investigations, sample collection, and mapping exercises.
• Assess prospective mineral deposits to determine their technical feasibility and commercial value.
• Create and execute exploration plans, schedules, and work programs effectively.
• Interpret geological and exploration data, compiling detailed technical reports and management recommendations.
• Assist with the appraisal and acquisition of potential mining properties and projects.
• Manage relationships and coordinate with geological consultants, mining contractors, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
• Supervise exploration and mining operations ensuring adherence to technical, environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Support studies on feasibility, mining plans, proposals, and project development strategies.
• Identify opportunities to enhance exploration productivity, improve mineral recovery, and increase overall project value.
• Track project budgets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables meticulously.
• Stay updated with industry developments, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the Nigerian mining sector.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Resources, or related fields.
• Professional certifications or memberships in recognized industry bodies are advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in mineral exploration, mining operations, or resource development.
• In-depth knowledge of geological exploration methods, mineral evaluation, and mining techniques.
• Familiarity with Nigerian mining legislation, compliance requirements, and environmental norms.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent skills in project management and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficient communication and technical reporting skills.
• Capacity to work autonomously and perform fieldwork when necessary.
