Role Overview

We're searching for a skilled Java Developer to join our team remotely from Dublin or elsewhere, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java applications. The role demands expertise in AWS cloud technologies, relational database management, and batch processing systems, collaborating with diverse teams to deliver robust business solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement scalable Java-based applications.
  • Leverage AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and Event Bus to build cloud solutions emphasizing availability and scalability.
  • Design and maintain database schemas, optimize SQL queries, and enhance database performance.
  • Develop and sustain batch processing systems to manage large data volumes.
  • Maintain high code quality through peer reviews, testing, and compliance with coding standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with product managers, QA engineers, and fellow developers.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and bugs.
  • Mentor and support junior team members by sharing knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five years professional experience developing Java applications in product development or service sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS core services including EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and Event Bus.
  • Proficient in relational database systems like Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, including writing SQL and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Solid knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within team settings.

Additional Desired Skills

  • Experience working with batch processing frameworks and tools.
  • At least two years experience programming in Python.
