Electronic Warfare Operator

About the Role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a seasoned Electronic Warfare Operator (EWO) to join its Special Mission Aircraft team based in Nowra, NSW. This role involves supporting advanced Electronic Warfare training, testing, evaluation, and certification activities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). As part of an integrated aircrew, the successful candidate will contribute to the planning, mission execution, and debrief of sophisticated Electronic Warfare operations that support Air, Maritime, and Joint Force training objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate as an aircrew member aboard Raytheon Australia’s Special Mission Aircraft.
• Lead mission planning, briefing, execution, and debriefing related to Electronic Warfare and operational test missions.
• Manage airborne Electronic Warfare, communications, and command-and-control systems effectively.
• Carry out Mission Commander duties during training, testing, and certification phases as required.
• Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of Electronic Warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Provide instruction, mentoring, and operational support to ADF personnel and industry partners.
• Participate in both domestic and international deployments supporting exercises, trials, and capability development initiatives.
• Maintain rigorous standards for aviation safety, mission assurance, and professional conduct.

Required Skills and Experience

• Possession of or eligibility to secure and retain an AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a CASA Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate and an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• At least eight years of experience in military aviation disciplines such as air warfare, fighter control, air battle management, or maritime air warfare operations.
• Demonstrated expertise operating in complex, time-sensitive tactical situations.
• Proven leadership and strong communication abilities.
• Competency to function effectively within multi-crew aviation settings.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Operational background as Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), Weapon Systems Officer (WSO), Air Battle Manager (ABM), AEW&C Mission Crew, Fighter Controller, Principal Warfare Officer (Air Warfare), or Air Intercept Controller.
• Experience supporting or conducting fifth-generation air operations and associated tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Military instructor, evaluator, or mission trainer qualifications.
• Experience operating in joint and coalition environments.
• Previous airborne mission crew service.
• A bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Aviation, Defence Studies, or closely related fields is highly valued.

Location and Travel

The position is headquartered at Raytheon Australia’s Joint Adversarial Training and Testing Services program in Nowra, NSW. FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) arrangements may be considered for qualified candidates residing in Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, or other major centers. A comprehensive relocation package might be available for those who choose to move permanently. The role involves regular domestic travel and occasional international deployments to support various exercises, trials, and operational development activities.
