Groundsperson / Skilled Maintenance Worker

About the Role

Join Raytheon Australia as a Dynamic Groundsperson and Skilled Maintenance Worker contributing directly to Australia’s Defence mission. You will become part of a diverse Facilities Management team delivering essential maintenance across facilities and grounds to help ensure operational excellence supporting the Australian Defence Force’s critical outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver both scheduled preventative and urgent corrective maintenance activities.
• Carry out repairs and upgrades to infrastructure and equipment as needed.
• Propagate plants and manage revegetation efforts over varied landscapes.
• Perform general grounds upkeep, including debris removal, cleaning outdoor areas, and hardstands.
• Conduct hedge and tree trimming operations.
• Operate mowing, edging, and whipper snipping tasks efficiently.
• Apply herbicides for effective control of weeds and pests with adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment ensuring they remain in clean and safe working order.
• Strictly follow safety guidelines including personal protective equipment usage and chemical handling procedures.
• Collaborate and support fellow technicians and team members as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Trade experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Certification equivalent to Certificate III in Horticulture is an asset.
• Possession of a valid manual driver’s license mandatory.
• Clear police background check is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently manage tasks.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional appearance and demeanor.
• Proficiency in operating essential grounds maintenance equipment including push and ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers, whipper snippers, and blowers.
• Physical fitness to perform role requirements such as bending, lifting, and working in various environments like roofs, subfloors, or outdoors.
• Capability to take initiative and perform with minimal supervision.

Additional Information

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security clearance as per Australian Government Defence requirements.
