Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex COBOL and CICS applications that support key business operations.
• Create reliable, scalable, and efficient software solutions addressing enterprise needs.
• Perform thorough code reviews and advocate best practices in software development.
• Diagnose and resolve technical problems with a commitment to quality and dependability.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, client representatives, and development teams to transform business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Support project activities such as planning, estimating, and delivery in partnership with Project Managers.
• Engage actively in Agile processes including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Establish and maintain trusted client relationships by providing expert technical support.
• Incorporate new features into existing enterprise platforms effectively.
• Identify and implement improvements to application performance, maintainability, and operational workflows.
• Suggest and contribute to initiatives aimed at modernizing and optimizing legacy systems.
• Develop high-quality technical documentation to support ongoing development and maintenance.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative learning culture within the team.
• Work alongside Quality Assurance teams to ensure thorough testing and adherence to high standards of software quality.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Over 10 years of experience in developing and maintaining enterprise Mainframe applications.
• Strong, practical expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL, MQ, and Easytrieve technologies.
• Comprehensive understanding of Mainframe environments and related technologies.
• Proven experience working within Agile and Scrum frameworks.
• Background in banking or financial services sectors is highly valued.
• Demonstrated success in delivering and supporting complex, mission-critical software solutions.
