About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of impactful technology initiatives within the government sector in Wellington, New Zealand. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and execute IT projects focused on application management from inception to deployment and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery of IT projects that improve government services.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and assist with change management processes.
- Support budget monitoring, resource allocation, and coordination with vendors.
- Prepare concise project reports and presentations for governance and senior leadership.
- Maintain thorough, audit-ready project documentation.
- Contribute insights to enhance project delivery methodologies across the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing IT projects, specifically in application project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, business, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with diverse IT delivery environments such as applications and digital platforms.
- Strong understanding of project management frameworks including Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid approaches.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, adept at interacting with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proactive, organized, and solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work experience in government or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of public sector governance, reporting, and assurance processes.
- Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, or Scrum are advantageous.
