Role Overview

The Relief Care Worker position involves delivering personal care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges within a respite service environment. The role emphasizes respect for individuality, positive behavioral support, community living, personal development, and social integration.

Responsibilities

• Foster teamwork and provide a supportive, nurturing environment for service users.
• Deliver personal care and assist with manual handling, maintaining comfort and hygiene while adhering to safety practices.
• Assist clients with medication administration according to established policies.
• Ensure all interactions are conducted with dignity, respect, equality, and respect for choice.
• Support participation in educational, recreational, and occupational activities to promote community inclusion.
• Provide safe transportation for clients, following policies and utilizing necessary safety equipment.
• Contribute to catering, cleaning, general domestic tasks, and accurate documentation within the service.

Requirements

• Understanding and experience in caring for people with disabilities, especially in residential or respite settings.
• Capability to apply a person-centred approach and support individuals with challenging behaviors.
• Experience in fostering independent living skills and community integration.
• Proficiency in personal assistance covering all aspects of personal care.
• Full manual driving licence is mandatory.
• Minimum QQI Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent qualification.
• At least 12 months of relevant experience.
• Willingness to engage in all offered training.
• Provision of police certificates for any countries lived in prior to residing in Ireland may be required.

Additional Information

Salary starts at €31,561.64 (pro rata). A hiring panel may be formed following this recruitment drive.
