Job description

Role Overview

At Home Group, we are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Housing Concierge to provide overnight support at our Rosemead service in Southend-on-Sea, a supported housing environment for homeless ex-offenders. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of our residents with complex care needs throughout the night.

Key Duties

  • Conduct regular patrols of the building, monitoring CCTV, fire exits, and communal areas to maintain a safe environment.
  • Welcome residents and visitors, while addressing minor repairs and cleanliness.
  • Serve as the primary support point for residents during night hours when other support or personal networks are unavailable.
  • Respond promptly and fairly to any incidents, maintaining a calm demeanor.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to manage issues related to anti-social behavior.

Working Hours and Environment

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 pm to 4:30 am.
  • Primarily lone working with regular daytime team meetings and training sessions.
  • Use of technology such as CCTV monitoring, record keeping, and communication tools is essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check required; Home Group will sponsor this check.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to stay alert and composed during night shifts.
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgement in challenging situations.
  • Experience or passion for supporting vulnerable individuals in a professional or personal capacity.
  • Confidence to identify and intervene sensitively in potential issues before they escalate.
