About the Company
Aldwych Consulting Ltd represents a leading specialist contractor delivering a variety of civil engineering, groundworks, and infrastructure projects throughout the United Kingdom working with main contractors and developers.
Role Overview
The opportunity is for an experienced Estimator to join the commercial team and take lead responsibility for preparing thorough, competitive, and commercially viable tenders. You will manage tender processes from initial enquiry through to submission while collaborating closely with commercial and operational departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed estimates and tenders specifically for civil engineering and groundworks projects.
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and define exact scope of works.
- Conduct comprehensive take-offs and compile precise cost estimates.
- Request, collect, and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Develop competitive tender submissions that maintain commercial feasibility.
- Spot risks, potential opportunities, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Maintain communication and coordinate with clients, main contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tender phase.
- Assist in transitioning awarded projects to the delivery teams smoothly.
- Keep meticulous estimating records and help enhance estimating practices.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in estimating roles within civil engineering, groundworks, or related construction sectors.
- Excellent understanding of construction methods and related cost structures.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and tender packages.
- Strong numerical aptitude coupled with commercial insight.
- Skilled in executing quantity take-offs and evaluating supplier and subcontractor bids.
- High attention to detail and effective organizational abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while maintaining productive cross-team collaboration.
- Strong negotiation and communication capabilities.
- Applicants with Quantity Surveying or commercial experience who transitioned into estimating are also welcome.
