Overview

As an Engineering Shift Leader at Aloft Abu Dhabi, you will be responsible for promptly addressing guest repair requests, ensuring efficient maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment, and maintaining communication across shifts. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and keeping accurate inventory of parts and supplies.

Key Job Duties

  • Respond to guest maintenance requests and effectively communicate resolutions with guests.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Operate and locate all utility and equipment shut-off valves safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and order parts as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Convey daily activities and any issues to subsequent shifts using standardized communication methods.
  • Demonstrate or quickly learn knowledge in various technical areas including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
  • Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, along with cleanup procedures.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on plumbing, electrical fixtures, kitchen equipment, and other guestroom items.
  • Program guest room TVs and manage engineering-related inventories.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before maintenance work.
  • Perform interior and exterior landscaping repairs including irrigation systems.
  • Use computer systems to input maintenance schedules and adjust environmental settings.
  • Follow all company safety, security policies, and reporting procedures, including handling flammable materials properly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality and the protection of assets.
  • Deliver excellent guest service by welcoming guests warmly and assisting according to company standards.
  • Collaborate positively with team members and communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Physically capable of lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds, navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders, and performing various physical duties.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience preferred in general maintenance, surface preparation, painting, and ideally hotel engineering or maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • No supervisory experience required.
