Customer Delivery Driver - Bedford Extra

Role Overview

As a Customer Delivery Driver representing Tesco on the road, you deliver shopping directly to customers' homes, offering much more than just transportation. This role is hands-on, physically active, and involves diverse tasks. You will operate mostly independently throughout your shift but have access to managerial and team support at the base when required. Pay starts at £14.18 per hour, with an increase to £15.45 in locations within the M25. Additional location-based payments may apply. Working hours guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, with options available from 12 hours.

Key Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and workspace to ensure customers receive orders in excellent condition.
• Safely load the delivery van and perform required checks to confirm it is safe, reliable, and prepared for service.
• Communicate courteously with customers regarding any changes, substitutions, or nearing expiry of items, facilitating refunds where necessary to maintain a positive experience.
• Handle products with utmost care, treating all orders as if they were your own to preserve quality and customer trust.
• Deliver orders punctually within scheduled time windows, providing friendly and genuine service at customer doorsteps to ensure they feel valued.

Candidate Requirements

• Build and maintain strong collegial relationships to foster a positive team environment and enhance customer service quality.
• Exhibit warmth and hospitality towards customers and fellow staff members.
• Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and operational adjustments both on the road and at the base.
• Hold a valid full UK, EU, or EEA driving license (manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
