Customer Delivery Driver

About the Role

Serving as Tesco's representative on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers engage directly with customers at their homes daily. This position extends beyond mere driving, encompassing providing assistance and delivering excellent service with a friendly demeanor. The job involves physical activity and variety, with each shift offering different experiences. You will operate mainly independently during your shift, supported by a management and colleague team at the base whenever assistance is needed.

Hourly pay begins at A314.18, increasing to A315.45 within stores located inside the M25. Additional financial incentives may be available in some regions. There is a guaranteed minimum of 16 working hours weekly; however, a minimum of 12 hours is also an option. Shift schedules will align with your availability and provide at least three weeks' advance notice. Applicants with near-matching availability are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and workspace to ensure customers receive their groceries in excellent condition.
• Safely load the delivery van and conduct comprehensive pre-delivery inspections to confirm the vehicle's roadworthiness and reliability.
• Communicate clearly and kindly with customers regarding any order changes, substitutions, or short-dated goods, ensuring a smooth experience and processing refunds when appropriate.
• Handle all products carefully, treating orders as your personal responsibility to uphold quality and customer confidence.
• Complete deliveries within the designated customer time slot, providing friendly and genuine service at the doorstep to leave customers feeling appreciated and well cared for.

Required Qualifications & Attributes

• Develop positive relationships with colleagues to foster teamwork and deliver superior customer service.
• Exhibit warm and welcoming behavior toward customers and coworkers alike.
• Respond promptly and flexibly to evolving customer demands and adapt to changes both on the road and at the store.
• Possess a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving license (full or automatic) held for a minimum of 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
