Claims Associate

Position Overview

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada plays a vital role in maintaining inventory precision and enhancing store profitability by efficiently managing damaged and returned goods per company policies. This position partners closely with vendors, colleagues, and patrons to obtain proper credits, uphold inventory controls, and facilitate smooth operational flow within the store. By integrating meticulous attention to detail with excellent customer service, the Claims Associate safeguards company assets while fostering a positive shopping and work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately scan and process damaged or stolen merchandise to minimize losses.
• Prepare and manage returns, vendor claims, recalls, and donations, including completing all necessary documentation and timely packing and shipping.
• Maintain the claims area’s cleanliness and safety by adhering to lifting protocols, ladder usage, and proper chemical disposal methods.
• Follow company procedures strictly for handling damaged and recalled items; keep claims records current and resolve older claims accurately to reduce financial chargebacks.
• Support store programs by completing assigned Customer Value Program (CVP) tasks and adhering to established processes.
• Collaborate with team members including Office Support Associates and Direct Store Delivery Associates as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays according to business demands.

Challenges Associated With the Role

• Manage high workload in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Plan work hours strategically to maintain energy and focus throughout shifts.
• Handle physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting inventory or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs, as well as repetitive duties including stocking and zoning with attention to consistent quality.
