Self Checkout Attendant

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the self checkout area, ensuring it is free from clutter, spills, and extraneous items.
• Promote Walmart’s company programs such as credit card options, product protection plans, and charitable campaigns, when applicable.
• Assist customers in efficiently completing self checkout transactions, monitor checkout lanes, provide guidance, and escalate any cash or technical problems to management.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms following store procedures and accurately document incidents in the Failure to Deactivate log.
• Ensure Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated locations after use.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support store operations.

Challenges

• Handle a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment with effective time and energy management, especially during overnight hours.
• Perform physical duties such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Engage in repetitive activities like stocking and organizing products, maintaining high standards of store presentation.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $15.50.

Minimum Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
