About the Role

The Internal Security Department (ISD) plays a vital role in safeguarding Singapore's internal security against various threats such as foreign subversion, espionage, racial and religious extremism, and terrorism. With a history spanning over 75 years, ISD offers a meaningful career dedicated to protecting Singapore's sovereignty, safety, and stability.

Data is central to ISD's operations, necessitating strong data security and management protocols to support secure data usage and analytics. You will join the Data and AI Governance unit under the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and collaborate with data governance professionals and security specialists. Depending on your aptitude, you will have the opportunity to engage in diverse data-related roles including policy creation, risk consulting, asset management, and strategy development. You will also provide guidance on data security, compliance, and risk management, enhancing operational effectiveness through data, analytics, and AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and manage components of cutting-edge multimodal AI systems handling multiple data formats such as audio, image, and video.
• Evaluate, recommend, integrate, and develop new AI and large language model (LLM) frameworks and technologies.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders including end-users, analysts, data scientists, engineers, designers, and project managers to plan, develop, deliver, and maintain AI-enhanced solutions.
• Lead AI projects, mentor junior team members, make informed technical decisions, and assist in strategy development.

Candidate Profile

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Data Analytics, Data Science, Signal Processing, or equivalent experience.
• Detail-oriented and resourceful with enthusiasm for delivering AI-driven capabilities.
• Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
• Excellent communicator adept at cross-functional teamwork.
• Strong focus on balancing overall project goals alongside technical details.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or JavaScript, with eagerness to learn additional languages and technologies.
• Experience or aptitude in AI architecture and engineering is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with software engineering domains such as web development, production-grade scalable systems, big data, container technologies, data analytics, machine learning, deep learning model design, signal processing, computer vision fundamentals, vision-language models, and multimedia preprocessing and retrieval is preferred.
