Overview of Role and Project
Thiess is currently looking for a Trades Assistant to become part of the maintenance team at the new Gruyere Project. This open-pit gold mining operation lies within the Yamarna greenstone belt, roughly 200 kilometers east of Laverton in Western Australia, accessible via a short flight from Perth.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Operate maintenance and inspection equipment effectively.
- Monitor the condition of plant and machinery, including identifying and reporting leaks of oil and fuel, and ensuring proper stocking of oil, grease, and fuel.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a HC/HR drivers’ license.
- Possess licensing including Rigging, Dogging, Crane Ticket C6 (or higher), Elevated Work Platform, Working at Heights, and Forklift tickets.
- Previous experience as a Trade Assistant and operating Franna cranes.
- Proven ability to work effectively in open-pit mining environments.
- Strong communication capability.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- Demonstrate a proactive “Can Do” attitude toward work and safety compliance.
- Good understanding and adherence to Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.
