About Stripe
Stripe is a comprehensive financial infrastructure platform catering to businesses of all sizes, from global enterprises to dynamic startups. Our mission is to expand the economic potential of the internet by facilitating payment acceptance, revenue growth, and new business ventures.
Team Overview
The Developer Productivity group at Stripe focuses on enhancing developer happiness and efficiency by creating tools, processes, and executing code refactors that accelerate engineering growth as Stripe scales.
Role Summary
We seek individuals passionate about improving engineers’ day-to-day experiences by developing impactful developer tools. Candidates should have expertise in areas such as language processing, version control, build systems, and distributed system engineering. The role involves working with engineer-facing platforms, large-scale continuous integration (CI) infrastructure, and big-data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, construct, and operate large-scale CI systems incorporating features like batching, speculative stacking, and preventing merge conflicts.
- Manage extensive CI test suites by identifying flaky tests, reproducing and responding to instability, and boosting test efficiency.
- Improve CI reliability through adaptive capacity management, outage resilience and recovery, and enhanced observability.
- Isolate and detect code failures swiftly to reduce their impact.
- Collaborate directly with product engineering teams to address productivity needs.
- Lead significant technical projects that substantially influence Stripe’s engineers.
- Make informed technology and architectural decisions for core CI products and serve as an owner for these choices.
- Contribute hands-on code and design user interfaces following best software development practices.
- Make balanced critical decisions by considering software standards, Stripe’s ecosystem, and stakeholder inputs.
- Mentor emerging technical leaders within the company.
- Promote effective adoption of AI-assisted development, operations, and delivery.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of ten years of professional software engineering experience.
- Solid experience designing and developing large distributed systems.
- Proven history of mentoring engineers at various seniority levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong customer focus with the ability to represent customer perspectives to guide outcomes.
- Capability to define and lead complex, multi-team projects.
- Effective cross-disciplinary and cross-team collaboration skills, with confidence and decisiveness.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with high autonomy and responsibility.
- Prior experience in Developer Tooling, CI/CD, or DevOps domains.
Workplace and Location Expectations
Employees in this role based in Dublin, Ireland are expected to work fully onsite. Stripe encourages a balance between onsite presence and remote flexibility, which may vary by team and location.
