Team and Tools

The Information Systems team develops and supports production software tools utilized by all game development disciplines to facilitate projects across Rockstar Games. Our toolset includes task management platforms, defect tracking systems integrated with gaming consoles, distributed video recording solutions, reporting, and advanced analytics applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build effective solutions enabling rapid game development workflows.
• Contribute to the evolution and enforcement of the team’s software design principles.
• Work cross-functionally with technology teams across Rockstar’s global studios.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of existing systems while adopting new technologies to enhance our applications.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum five years of experience in Java backend software engineering.
• Comprehensive skills in Java, including both low-level optimization and high-level architectural design.
• Expertise with Spring Boot framework and JPA/Hibernate for persistence.
• Experience in designing scalable, maintainable RESTful APIs.
• Strong proficiency with MySQL or comparable relational databases, including query performance tuning.
• Practical experience using Apache Kafka and building change data capture (CDC) pipelines.
• Skilled at profiling and debugging Java applications for performance improvements.
• Comfortable operating within Linux environments with effective communication and production support capabilities.

Additional Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) and Graph Database technologies.
• Experience with media processing tools such as FFMPEG.
• Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD), and build automation.
• Experience in service-oriented architectures and multi-tier server application development.
• Exposure to caching strategies, Spring Cloud, and API documentation tools like Swagger.
• Understanding of data warehousing platforms like Snowflake or Apache Doris.
• Working knowledge of Debezium for data change capture.
