Team Overview

The Payments engineering group manages the processing of hundreds of billions of dollars in card payments annually, supporting users across Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. This team focuses on broadening Stripe’s global payments network and delivering superior card payment experiences in these regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Stripe leadership to define and drive the card payments strategy.
  • Mentor and develop engineers to foster their professional growth and career progression.
  • Encourage high technical productivity, system reliability, and maintain simplicity within the team.
  • Oversee processes that enable the team to maximize their effectiveness and ensure seamless interaction with other Stripe teams.
  • Participate in company-wide engineering leadership initiatives as part of the engineering management team.
  • Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top engineering talent.

Candidate Profile

  • Comfortable operating autonomously with significant responsibility.
  • Advocate for a supportive yet challenging workplace culture.
  • Enthusiastic about coaching engineers to develop new skills and advance professionally.
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Lead by influence and example, setting clear context and helping the team perform at its best.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • 8 or more years of full-time software engineering experience.
  • Proven success in hiring, mentoring, and growing engineering talent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively through fast-moving, impactful, and ambiguous scenarios.
  • Strong commitment to operational excellence for production-grade systems.
  • Experience developing extensible software that scales with an expanding business.
  • Thrives in cross-functional, collaborative environments across diverse time zones, fostering a positive team culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background with payments-related products.
  • Experience working in global, cross-regional settings.
  • Utilization of AI tools to enhance team execution, software quality, and efficiency.
  • Experience establishing and growing new teams.
  • Development of product platforms serving other product teams.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with partners across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Comfortable engaging in customer-facing scenarios.

Office Attendance Policy

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role in Singapore ranges between SGD 244,000 and SGD 366,000 annually, subject to adjustment based on candidate experience, qualifications, and work location. This may encompass several career levels.
