Role Overview

Joining Amazon as a Shift Manager offers the opportunity to lead a large and diverse team responsible for maintaining operational pace according to demand. This role involves hands-on leadership in a fast-moving global business, learning the complexities of operations and ensuring seamless workflow.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow managers to harmonize shift procedures.

Daily Activities

You will be stationed at one of the operational sites, working various shifts. Key focuses include maintaining safety standards and monitoring operational processes for efficiency. The daily routine will combine team management, operational tasks, addressing escalations, process improvement initiatives, and contingency planning.

Collaborative work with internal teams and external partners will be integral to meeting customer demands and targets, involving data and performance metric analysis and discussing technical advancements with engineers.

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) manages last-mile delivery in partnership with third-party distributors, leveraging innovation and continuous improvement to deliver millions of products smoothly to customers. The operations are split between 'under the roof' associates who process goods and 'on the road' personnel managing delivery with partners including Amazon Flex. The team operates predominantly through 24/7 shift systems and is committed to environmental sustainability initiatives such as incorporating electric vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, averaging 40 hours per week.
• Physical ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stay on feet for shifts up to 12 hours, with frequent physical movements.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• At least 1 year of leadership experience in retail, distribution, or similar sectors.
• Minimum 1 year managing direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related fields.
• Fluent English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
