Job description
Overview
This role, based in Doha, Qatar at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, demands a full-time onsite presence. Preference will be given to Qatari nationals. The successful candidate will lead and manage the maintenance division, ensuring both reactive and proactive upkeep of all operational equipment, services, and infrastructure. The goal is to maximize sustainable equipment availability aligned with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards while maintaining high safety, environmental, and quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the execution of a comprehensive maintenance strategy.
- Set, monitor, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to maintenance operations.
- Establish, enforce, and update departmental policies and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate effective use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Ensure safety, functionality, and suitability of all equipment and facilities.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities harmoniously with vessel and production timelines to enhance equipment availability.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels of spare parts and materials, securing multiple supplier options for critical spares.
- Develop standardized service and repair protocols along with parts lists for routine maintenance tasks.
- Identify and drive business improvement initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performance maintenance team.
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports on maintenance performance and departmental activities.
- Manage annual budget preparation, forecasts, and authorize procurement of required equipment and materials.
- Draft scopes of work for outsourced maintenance assignments and assess contractor technical competency.
- Supervise contractors on-site to assure compliance with company standards.
- Provide expert advice on facility, equipment, and system maintenance matters.
- Maintain a comprehensive maintenance library covering all relevant technical documents and standards.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to optimize maintenance outcomes.
- Ensure workplace cleanliness and proper office space utilization including procurement of office necessities.
- Promote a safe and healthy work culture prioritizing employee well-being and strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
- Membership in an internationally recognized professional engineering body.
- Registered or actively pursuing registration as an Incorporated Engineer or its equivalent.
- A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a senior maintenance leadership role managing major projects or performance improvements within related industries.
