Job description
Role Overview
The Sales Manager will report directly to the Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer (CCO) and oversee the Head of Estimation. This position is based in Ras Laffan, State of Qatar, with priority given to Qatari nationals. The individual will be responsible for executing the Marine business development strategy aligned with business plans and revenue targets. This involves cultivating new business opportunities, expanding existing lines, and acting as a liaison between the market and the organization to pursue growth prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain regular communication with a global agent network to grow the yard's market share in the region.
- Conduct proactive visits to local and international clients to showcase the yard's capabilities and identify business prospects.
- Provide strategic input regarding the company’s involvement in global marine events and exhibitions to enhance brand visibility.
- Prepare and share detailed marketing visit reports with management, ensuring follow-up on all actions.
- Identify and explore new business opportunities using marketing tools and intelligence to boost revenue streams.
- Constantly monitor regional and global market trends and competitors and provide insights to management.
- Lead negotiations to establish mutually beneficial service agreements with clients for sustainable partnerships.
- Collaborate with specialist service providers and OEMs to integrate their services within the yard or country.
- Coordinate with Finance and Operations teams to develop annual business plans and KPIs, ensuring targets are met.
- Understand clients’ requirements and ensure these are fulfilled effectively.
- Develop and regularly update the strategies, guidelines, and policies of the Estimation and Marketing departments.
- Oversee the estimation team's performance according to policy to secure timely and successful bids and maintain follow-up with owners and agents.
- Assess client credibility to manage business risks and protect revenue streams.
- Optimize the utilization of estimation resources aligned to workload and staff skills.
- Analyze reasons for lost bids, synthesizing findings to inform management and drive corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certificate of Competency as a Class 1 Marine Engineer Officer (Motor Ship) or equivalent.
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in managerial roles.
Additional Information
Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Preference is given to Qatari nationals.
Direct reports to Head of Estimation.
This is a full-time onsite position.
