About the Role
Join Google Cloud's team as a Senior Software Engineering Manager tasked with leading the Persistent Disk Backup team, a critical pillar in Google Cloud's block storage solutions. This position involves spearheading innovation and technical leadership to deliver top-tier performance for the Persistent Disk Backup family and directing the IO Performance team for Persistent Disk and Hyperdisk products.
Responsibilities
- Define and articulate team priorities aligned with the broader organizational mission.
- Coordinate strategy, streamline processes, and ensure effective decision-making across multiple teams.
- Collaborate and influence senior leaders including Directors and above across diverse company divisions.
- Set explicit performance and development expectations for team members, aligned with organizational goals.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings for performance feedback, coaching, and professional growth.
- Architect long-term technical roadmaps that address anticipated demands and evolving infrastructure needs.
- Oversee system design in broad areas and evaluate product or system development code to resolve complex challenges.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on code to uphold best practices including style, integration, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of professional experience programming with C++.
- A minimum of 7 years experience in building and scaling infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 5 years of experience in technical leadership roles.
- 5 years of prior experience managing people or leading teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- Experience of at least 5 years working within complex, matrixed organizational environments.
- Expert knowledge in cloud storage or cloud infrastructure.
