Senior Software Engineer – Python, Data Platform

Position Overview

The Qsight team at Guidepoint is focused on creating advanced data intelligence solutions aimed at the healthcare industry. They utilize proprietary and alternative data sources to deliver actionable insights to institutional investors, medical device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. This position entails a hands-on Software Engineer role responsible for managing and advancing Python-based workflows and data platform applications. The role involves close collaboration with business teams, shipping production-ready systems, improving legacy processes, and establishing best engineering practices for efficient, reliable software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-level Python applications that automate essential business processes.
• Manage and enhance Python ETL frameworks, Airflow DAGs, and orchestration models.
• Integrate various internal and external systems, including Snowflake, DynamoDB, CRM systems, ecommerce platforms, and other third-party APIs.
• Ensure workflows are observable, dependable, thoroughly tested, and maintainable.
• Refactor legacy ETLs pragmatically using reusable libraries and AI-assisted development methods.
• Implement data quality frameworks and standards, including using tools like Great Expectations.
• Enhance testing, deployment, and operational methods for data workflows built in Python.
• Address and minimize technical debt within the data platform.
• Define architectural standards and best engineering practices for Python-based data platform development.
• Mentor engineering team members to elevate Python development quality throughout the data organization.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and data engineers to prepare their code for production environments.
• Translate complex, ambiguous business requirements into durable, effective technical solutions.

Candidate Profile

• 6 to 9 years of professional experience in software development.
• Extensive hands-on expertise in developing and maintaining Python applications in critical production settings.
• Experience with data-centric applications, ETL workflows, data pipelines, or platform integrations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Python best practices including application design, testing, packaging, error handling, observability, and maintainability.
• Strong command of SQL and relational data modeling.
• Experience working within Agile software development methodologies.
• Possess a strong sense of responsibility, sound technical judgment, and capability to independently address complex challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, influence stakeholders, and clearly communicate technical trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehouse platforms.
• Experience with Airflow or comparable workflow orchestration tools.
• Understanding of modern data architecture patterns, data quality frameworks, and engineering best practices for data platforms.
• Experience integrating AI-assisted development workflows.
