Role Overview
This position calls for an experienced Senior Mainframe COBOL Developer proficient in COBOL, CICS, and IMS technologies. The selected candidate will engage in supporting crucial payment applications, design and enhance systems, and contribute to advancing engineering practices through Agile methodologies and AI integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, CICS, JCL, and IMS DB/DC.
- Provide support for critical payment applications servicing global banking clients.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to ensure delivery excellence.
- Organize and monitor team tasks and progress using JIRA.
- Address and resolve issues through root cause analysis.
- Participate in efforts to improve system performance and capacity.
- Contribute to documentation standards, governance protocols, and best practices.
- Investigate and foster adoption of Agentic AI solutions such as automation and AI-assisted development tools.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mainframe application development.
- At least 5 years of hands-on proficiency with COBOL, CICS, JCL, and IMS.
- In-depth knowledge of batch and online transaction processing environments.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience managing workflow and bug tracking via JIRA.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving expertise.
- Understanding of Agentic AI and AI-assisted development approaches.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- IBM Mainframe, COBOL, or DB2 certifications are considered advantageous.
Desirable Experience
- Background in banking and payment processing fields.
- Knowledge of SWIFT, ACH, ISO 20022 standards or card payment processing systems.
- Familiarity with DB2 and VSAM data management techniques.
- Experience working with IBM z/OS utilities.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines within mainframe contexts.
- Understanding of AI-powered development tools.
