Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our design team in Cork and contribute to significant projects in the Bio-Pharmaceutical and Food sectors.

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and improvement of electrical design deliverables across multiple projects as the Lead Design Engineer/Coordinator.
• Design and coordinate electrical systems following local, national, and international standards along with best industry practices.
• Keep up to date with emerging execution methodologies, regulatory requirements including Environmental Health and Safety standards, and industry advances.
• Maintain knowledge of technology trends, design software updates, and industry standards relevant to electrical engineering.
• Create and enhance project design execution standards within PM Group.
• Understand the marketplace context including future client projects and competitor activities to inform design strategies.
• Estimate project hours and prepare schedules to ensure projects are completed within budget and timelines.
• Lead design review meetings with project teams and clients to ensure alignment and quality delivery.
• Conduct site visits to plan, monitor, and review electrical installation designs and manage projects independently while supporting colleagues as needed.
• Oversee preparation of technical documentation adhering to agreed schedules and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in industrial engineering design.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Professional attitude demonstrating ethical commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design principles.
• Solid familiarity with electrical engineering codes, standards, and best practices.
• Strong coordination skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience with value engineering and implementing innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Hands-on knowledge of key electrical engineering design applications including AutoDesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Dialux Lighting Design Software, and Caneco One.
• Familiarity with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), Amtech ProDesign, and ETAP is advantageous.
