Senior Mechanical Engineer / Senior Equipment Package Engineer

Role Overview

Due to increasing project demands, our Mechanical Engineering team is growing and we are seeking experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers. This position offers the chance to contribute across a diverse set of Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Food, and Beverage projects, spanning from initial concepts to detailed design, commissioning, and qualification phases. The role is based in Cork, Ireland with a hybrid working schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of equipment modules and packages throughout design and procurement stages.
• Prepare data sheets, material requisitions, and enquiry packages for equipment procurement.
• Evaluate technical bids from vendors ensuring compliance with client specifications.
• Develop technical specifications aligning with client requirements.
• Lead package development through kick-off meetings, design reviews, and factory acceptance tests (FATs).
• Manage supplier activities to guarantee timely design, manufacture, and testing per project needs.
• Collaborate closely with clients, vendors, project managers, and cross-disciplinary teams to deliver top-quality service.
• Interface with client design teams and end users for seamless project execution.
• Provide mechanical optimization and site support as required.
• Ensure delivery of agreed design scope within budgeted hours and timelines.

Candidate Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (applicants with degrees in Chemical or Process Engineering and relevant experience will also be considered).
• Extensive design experience in the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical industries.
• Proactive and confident in coordinating team efforts.
• Effective communication skills, including leading technical discussions with clients and suppliers.
• Willingness to travel to equipment manufacturing sites as needed.
