About The Role

The Senior Analytics Engineer position plays a pivotal role in establishing and refining the data infrastructure that underpins decision-making across the organisation. Reporting to the Innovation & Advanced Analytics Lead, this senior technical role involves creating and maintaining dbt data models that convert raw data into trusted, analytics-ready datasets to facilitate insights and business operations. The role requires close collaboration with both business stakeholders and analysts to ensure clear metric definitions, design data marts and semantic layers for self-service analytics, and enhance data quality and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain dbt models that transform raw data into reliable datasets for analytics use.
  • Design and refine data marts and semantic layers supporting self-service reporting, data products, and agentic agents.
  • Enhance query efficiency and performance on Snowflake and dbt platforms.
  • Identify and resolve data quality problems and implement automated data checks to prevent issues.
  • Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure business needs align with technical implementation.
  • Document data lineage and maintain automated tests to guarantee trustworthy reporting.
  • Engage in code reviews and support the establishment of engineering best practices within the analytics team.
  • Simplify complex data models and remove redundancies as the data platform expands.

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive hands-on experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, and ELT/ETL processes.
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with modern data stack tools including Snowflake, dbt, and cloud data platforms.
  • Strong grasp of dimensional modeling, metric design, and principles of data governance.
  • Data product mindset focusing on usability, scalability, and deriving business value.
  • Ability to convert ambiguous business requirements into scalable and well-structured data models.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a continuous improvement attitude toward enhancing data quality, speed, and simplicity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail balanced with practical delivery capabilities.
