Role Overview
This permanent, full-time role based in Stirling, Scotland, involves planning, coordinating, and optimising all approved work activities within a specific rail section to guarantee safe, efficient, and compliant operational delivery. The Section Planner is responsible for developing Safe Systems of Work, submitting green zone access and isolation requests, and preparing draft quarterly plans aligning with short- and medium-term operational goals. The role includes managing weekly Plan-Do-Review meetings and representing Section Managers during planning sessions for effective communication and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimise work activities for the rail section ensuring safety and compliance.
- Produce Safe System of Work plans and submit required access and isolation requests.
- Draft quarterly operational plans supporting network objectives.
- Coordinate and lead weekly Plan-Do-Review meetings to monitor progress and outcomes.
- Act as representative for Section Managers at various planning meetings.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate infrastructure maintenance records and update relevant systems and databases.
Candidate Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Competence in producing work plans and optimising resource allocation.
- Experience with scheduling profiles in work planning or scheduling systems.
- Completion of Core Planning Skills Level 2 certification.
- Understanding of access and possession processes and related systems.
- Familiarity with Safe System of Work planning processes and tools.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational abilities.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of maintenance delivery processes and methods.
