Role Overview

We are seeking Off Track Operatives to join our team in Perth, Western Australia. This entry-level role involves maintaining important lineside assets such as drainage, fencing, vegetation, and level crossings to support smooth railway operations. No prior skills or experience are necessary; full training will be provided to develop practical trades and technical competencies. The role requires physical outdoor work in all weather conditions and involves shift work including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining lineside infrastructure including drainage systems, fencing, vegetation clearance, and level crossing upkeep to ensure operational railway safety.
• Use a combination of manual tools and technology to inspect and maintain railway assets as directed by supervisors.
• Collaborate closely with Off Track Technicians and team members to complete maintenance tasks effectively.
• Follow safety regulations strictly while performing duties trackside.
• Participate in shift work with advanced scheduling provided to balance personal commitments.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a full, clean Category B driving licence to operate Network Rail vehicles.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
• Commitment to teamwork and a proactive approach to planning and preparation for shifts.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain focus in outdoor environments with close train activity.
• Willingness to undergo medical assessments, drug and alcohol screenings as part of recruitment and ongoing employment.

Additional Information

• Starting salary is approximately £32,639 per year with potential to progress to higher roles such as Off Track Technician and managerial positions.
• Shift patterns include days, nights, and weekends with rosters provided four weeks in advance.
• Applicants must be located within a 60-minute commute to the work location.
• Employment is conditional on passing pre-employment screening and medical examinations including eyesight and hearing tests.
