Production Operator, Coating

Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing color matching, adjusting formulations, and conducting quality tests on coating products to ensure they meet both customer expectations and quality standards. The role also involves supporting production processes, managing color standards globally, and various maintenance tasks related to laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute color matching and conduct quality assessments for a variety of coating products.
• Develop and adjust formulae using spectrophotometric and color matching techniques; blend, spray, and correct color matches as needed.
• Detect and address color shifts and related color issues, scaling formulae for full-scale production batches.
• Perform production batches according to approved formulae for coatings.
• Participate and collaborate in the Color Management Action Group (CMAG), ensuring effective management and maintenance of global color standards (including BMS, Federal, and internal copies).
• Act as the main color representative and contact point for ASC South East Asia (S.E.A), managing the related color management software and regional color keys.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, maintain calibration logs for laboratory tools, and uphold a 5S housekeeping environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong understanding and compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies at PPG.
• Knowledge of color development processes and color matching procedures.
• Ability to accurately interpret and blend product formulae.
• Capable of maintaining coatings laboratory equipment schedules and supporting production timelines in coordination with supervisors.
• Proficient in operating color spectrophotometers and other measuring equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with self-motivation and initiative.
