Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager - Data Engineering to oversee and advance Kāinga Ora’s enterprise data engineering capabilities. This leadership role is pivotal to maintaining and evolving our data platforms, pipelines, and analytic environments to provide reliable, secure, scalable data solutions that deliver timely insights supporting organization-wide decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead the data engineering teams and key data platforms that underpin data-driven decisions across Kāinga Ora.
- Ensure data capabilities address the growing requirements of the business by evolving systems continuously.
- Manage collaboration with Technology Operations, Architecture & Security, Data, Integration, and business units to guarantee resilient, secure, and cost-effective data platforms that support current and future organizational goals.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strategic and operationally excellent leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills, adept at building effective partnerships across technical and business teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience leading high-performing data engineering and platform teams in complex enterprise settings.
- Track record in managing enterprise data platforms to maintain stability, optimize performance, and implement continuous improvements.
- Deep understanding of modern data platforms, cloud-based services, data pipelines, and integration technologies.
- Expertise in data engineering practices including governance, security, operational support, and platform lifecycle management.
- Experience delivering secure, scalable, and highly available data solutions supporting organizational decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of operational management aspects such as SLAs, incident handling, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- A commitment to ongoing improvement and enabling data-driven results.
