Role Overview
Located at the Arundel Head Office on the Gold Coast, this role demands an experienced Software Engineering Manager to oversee and guide the engineering team. The position focuses on leadership, enhancing engineering expertise, managing project delivery, and driving technology strategy. Collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders is essential. Success hinges on fostering an environment where developers excel and ensuring technology initiatives drive business value. The role covers multiple critical platforms, including BuildCam, internal operational systems, and AI projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the software engineering team to build skills and capability.
- Define engineering priorities and coordinate timely delivery across diverse projects.
- Develop the team's expertise through continuous feedback and coaching.
- Work closely with business leaders to convert operational needs into applicable technology solutions.
- Promote adoption of modern development methodologies and AI-assisted software engineering practices.
- Guide technical architecture and decision-making without acting as the principal coder.
- Support ongoing improvement and evolution of the BuildCam platform and internal systems.
- Enhance software quality, scalability, and delivery processes.
- Identify and remove obstacles to optimize the engineering environment.
- Contribute strategically to Buildsafe's technology roadmap.

- Proven experience managing software development or engineering teams.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
- Experience overseeing software delivery across multiple initiatives or platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially astute with a pragmatic approach to technology adoption.
- Familiarity with Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of contemporary software engineering and architectural best practices.
- Interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI-driven development.
- Ability to balance innovation with consistent business results.
