Job Overview
A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Maintenance Worker to join a renowned healthcare provider at a high-quality care home located in Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland. This facility specializes in residential care, dementia care, and short-term respite care in a purpose-built environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks throughout the care home, including minor repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
- Contribute to the development and execution of a preventative maintenance plan in accordance with the Property Handbook.
- Maintain exterior areas such as gardens, lawns, pathways, ensuring safety, tidiness, and aesthetic appeal.
- Oversee the servicing and monitoring of heating, water systems, lighting, and other mechanical and electrical equipment, keeping detailed records.
- Conduct fire alarm testing, fire safety inspections, and help ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the Home Manager and external contractors for servicing, repairs, and routine inspections.
- Assist in performing risk assessments and promptly addressing identified hazards.
- Support safe handling and relocation of furniture and equipment according to manual handling guidelines.
- Participate in training sessions, performance appraisals, supervisory meetings, and staff meetings as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in maintenance work is essential.
- Practical expertise in general maintenance duties and gardening is advantageous.
- A recognized trade qualification such as City and Guilds in plumbing, joinery, electrical work, or decorating is desirable.
- Effective communication and listening abilities.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptability for flexible working hours including occasional travel or out-of-hours duties.
- Sensitivity to the needs of elderly residents and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Compensation and Benefits
The role offers a competitive hourly wage of GBP 14.09 amounting to an annual salary of GBP 29,307.20 for full-time work (40 hours weekly). Benefits include:
