About the Role

The HYCO Operator position at our Jubail facility involves managing daily operations of the HYCO steam methane reformer plant and associated systems. Reporting to the HYCO Lead/Shift Supervisor, this role ensures seamless production of hydrogen, CO2, and other utilities to meet customer requirements safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment including the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer, CO2 removal and compression units, auxiliary PSA, membrane units, utilities, and pipeline networks.
- Manage pipeline supply of hydrogen, steam, CO2, oxygen, and nitrogen to customers ensuring operational safety and efficiency.
- Support plant commissioning activities, maintain accurate documentation, and monitor quality assurance processes.
- Ensure safety compliance by preparing and managing safety permits, lockout-tagout (LOTO), confined space procedures, and implementing the company’s safety culture.
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, enhancing plant reliability.
- Monitor shift production, report status to supervisors, and propose operational improvements to address production shortfalls.
- Adhere to environmental and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance.
- Maintain strong communication across shifts to ensure safe, seamless operations and uphold customer satisfaction and contractual obligations.
- Assist in root cause investigations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to boost operational effectiveness.
- Fulfill additional tasks as directed by management efficiently and promptly.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Chemical Process Operations; a two-year technical associate degree may be acceptable based on experience and competency.
- At least 5 years of experience in process plant operations, with familiarity in hydrogen production, steam methane reforming (SMR), or acid gas removal plant operations highly advantageous.
- Committed to achieving a high proficiency level (Level 1/Board Level operator) within 2 to 4 years, showcasing field and board operational capabilities.
- Thorough understanding of local environmental, safety, and health regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with maintenance personnel and customers effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Demonstrates a dedication to teamwork, employee involvement, and embracing workplace diversity.
Additional Information
Operators with 5 to over 15 years of experience and leadership qualities may be considered for lead or supervisory roles upon successful completion of the operator progression course.
