About the Role

Global Wave Group in Albany, Auckland is seeking a dedicated WordPress Developer to join their IT department. This full-time, office-based position involves collaborating closely with the Head of IT and cross-functional teams to build and maintain high-quality websites.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain websites utilizing WordPress and PHP technologies.
• Create responsive and performant web pages based on UI/UX designs.
• Customize WordPress themes and plugins by crafting clean and efficient PHP code.
• Enhance website performance by optimizing speed, SEO structure, and user experience.
• Identify and resolve bugs while refining workflows to improve site functionality.
• Partner with product, marketing, and design teams to implement website updates effectively.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience in WordPress or front-end development.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related area.
• Strong programming capabilities in PHP.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery frameworks.
• Hands-on expertise working with WordPress themes, plugins, hooks, and filters.
• Good understanding of creating SEO-friendly website structures.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; conversational Mandarin is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using page builders like Elementor or WPBakery, and in developing custom WordPress plugins.
• Background working within the financial sector.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and website integration techniques.
• Knowledge of hosting environments, DNS configuration, and server management.
