Job description

Overview

We are seeking an Executive Chef to lead and manage all kitchen operations at a luxury property located in Ad Diriyah, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This management role involves direct culinary participation as well as oversight of all food-related functions to ensure exceptional guest and employee satisfaction while optimizing financial outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen management team and direct daily kitchen operations.
  • Step in for kitchen staff in their absence or identify suitable substitutes.
  • Set performance standards, regularly monitor team performance, and develop staff including direct reports.
  • Foster a culture of trust, respect, and cooperation among team members, serving as a role model for behavior and integrity.
  • Ensure fair and consistent enforcement of property policies.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in alignment with guest services and financial goals.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative employee relationships, using open communication channels and employee feedback to resolve issues.
  • Supervise and coordinate cooks and food preparation workers; demonstrate new culinary techniques and equipment.
  • Establish goals for culinary operations including performance, budget, and team objectives.
  • Oversee safety procedures and ensure all employees understand and follow safety protocols.
  • Manage department expenses such as food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment within budgets.
  • Contribute to budgeting processes for kitchen operations.
  • Ensure culinary standards by directing menu development, monitoring food quality and presentation, and enforcing food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage protocols.
  • Provide and support exceptional customer service through coaching and leadership to exceed guest expectations.
  • Engage with guests to receive feedback and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Identify staff development needs and deliver coaching, mentoring, and training as required.
  • Administer employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions according to policy.
  • Collaborate with banquet and catering teams on food knowledge and menu planning.
  • Provide clear and timely communication to executive leadership and team members.
  • Analyze operational results and problem-solve to improve outcomes.

Candidate Profile

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED with at least six years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related fields, or
  • A two-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or similar with a minimum of four years' relevant experience.
