Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. The role requires preparing detailed project cost projections involving labor, materials, and equipment across residential and commercial projects. You'll collaborate directly with owners, architects, developers, and various stakeholders to contribute to the strategic growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Create thorough cost estimates and project proposals encompassing all relevant construction expenses.
- Analyze and interpret construction blueprints, design drawings, and specifications to inform your estimates.
- Perform site inspections to collect necessary data for bid preparations.
- Engage with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to advise on cost control strategies.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids for accuracy, fairness, and completeness.
- Stay informed of market trends, cost changes, and local construction dynamics to ensure competitive and precise estimates.
- Prepare and deliver detailed bid reports to clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain and update estimation records, databases, and tracking systems diligently.
- Participate in negotiations with contractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Conduct post-bid reviews to analyze project outcomes and improve future bidding approaches.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction estimating or a comparable role.
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction blueprints and schematics.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical proficiency for producing accurate cost estimates.
- Experience with estimation software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating complex information effectively.
- Competent in negotiating to obtain optimal prices and contract terms.
- Exceptional organizational abilities to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Knowledge of local building codes, standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Proactive problem solver capable of anticipating challenges and proposing solutions.
- Team-oriented approach to collaborate across various organizational levels.
