Job Opportunity
Alberta Health Services (AHS) seeks a reliable and motivated Environmental Services staff member trained in healthcare cleaning. This role prioritizes both quality of work and safety. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure effective cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, clinical and office areas, and other public/staff spaces according to AHS standards. The work schedule includes a mix of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
Role Description
As part of Environmental Services, your duties will encompass thorough cleaning and disinfection tasks within hospital or healthcare facilities’ clinical and non-clinical areas. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors; replenishing bathroom supplies; linen stripping and bed making; operating industrial equipment for floor care; washing ceilings and windows; handling hazardous waste disposal; and restocking cleaning materials and linens. You will also identify and report hazards to your supervisor and may participate in training or onboarding new Environmental or Laundry personnel.
Work Schedule and Employment Details
- Location: Westlock Healthcare Centre
- Full-time equivalent: 1.00
- Temporary full-time employment from August 31, 2026 to March 1, 2027
- Shifts: 7.75 hours each, with 10 shifts per 2-week cycle
- Shift types: Days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations
- Days off: According to rotation schedule
Compensation
Hourly wage ranges from $22.58 to $24.68
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
- Basic computer and smartphone operation skills
- Physical capability to stand and walk for long periods and perform repetitive movements throughout shifts
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Effective communication skills with ability to follow both oral and written instructions
- Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in cleaning, preferably within a healthcare setting
