Opportunity Overview
Alberta Health Services (AHS) seeks a reliable and motivated Environmental Services II staff member dedicated to maintaining high-quality cleanliness and safety in healthcare environments. AHS provides comprehensive training to ensure proper cleaning and disinfection practices align with organizational standards.
Role Description
The Environmental Services staff is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting both clinical and non-clinical areas within hospital or healthcare facilities. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restocking bathroom supplies, stripping and making beds, operating floor maintenance equipment, washing ceilings and windows, disposing of hazardous waste, and replenishing linens and cleaning materials. Additionally, the role requires identifying potential hazards and reporting them to the supervisor. Providing orientation or training to Environmental or Laundry staff may also be part of the responsibilities.

Employee Class: Regular Full Time
Work Hours: 7.75 hour shifts on a 6-week cycle totaling 30 shifts; includes days and weekend days with days off as per rotation.
Salary Range: $22.58 to $24.68 per hour

Mandatory Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education
- Basic knowledge of computers and smartphone operation
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, and perform repetitive movements throughout shifts
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs and exert pushing/pulling forces up to 50 lbs
- Effective communication skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Dependability and capacity to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in cleaning, preferably within healthcare settings
