Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect to join our Architecture and Data team. This role involves providing strategic leadership that integrates business objectives with technology initiatives across Mercury. Reporting to the Architecture & Data Manager, you will translate Mercury's strategic goals into technology recommendations that emphasize business outcomes alongside technical feasibility. You will also shape product and technology strategies, develop roadmaps, and establish architectural patterns and standards to guide technology decisions throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technology direction aligned with Mercury’s business goals, offering insight and strategic guidance.
- Engage early in project delivery cycles to influence decisions before they become fixed.
- Create and maintain reference architectures and patterns, advocating for suitable technologies with stakeholder support.
- Develop conceptual solution models that align with business requirements and technology roadmaps.
- Ensure solution designs comply with reference architectures, documenting thoroughly.
- Contribute to delivery planning, estimation, and risk management processes.
- Support the development and enforcement of technology standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Participate actively in the enterprise architecture community to enhance organisational capability.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a tertiary qualification in information systems, engineering, or related discipline.
- Brings over 10 years of experience in a commercial IT environment, including a minimum of 2 years as a solution architect working on complex enterprise-grade solutions.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of software design best practices, application lifecycle, and infrastructure technologies including on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Proficient in modeling languages such as UML, ArchiMate, BPMN; familiar with agile methodologies and tools like EA Sparx, Archi, and Lucidchart.
- Skilled at translating technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language appropriate for diverse stakeholders.
- Experienced in contributing to communities of practice and passionate about developing others’ capabilities.
- Possesses a curious, adaptable approach, takes ownership, collaborates effectively across teams, and prioritizes the best interests of colleagues.
