About the Role
Join Downer's Construction team in Invercargill as a Drainlayer / Machine Operator, contributing to major civil and infrastructure projects throughout Southland. This role involves operating earthmoving machinery, performing drainage installations, and assisting with notable projects such as bridge abutment excavation and scour protection installation. You'll collaborate closely with the Bridging team, delivering quality infrastructure works while working within a safety-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators of varying sizes across diverse construction tasks.
- Install drainage systems and perform related earthworks.
- Support bridge construction activities including excavation of bridge supports and approach construction.
- Work effectively within a team focused on safety and project delivery.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to confidently operate excavators in construction settings.
- Practical experience with drainage works is beneficial.
- Holds Works Traffic Management (WTR) endorsements and relevant machine operation experience.
- Competence in reading and working from construction plans and levels.
- Understanding of trench safety protocols and underground service precautions.
- Possession of a Class 2 or higher driving licence is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and fostering a positive safety culture.
