Role Overview

This permanent full-time position is based at the Springfield Business Park depot in Chelmsford, Essex. Employees work 38 hours weekly with shifts typically spread from Wednesday to Friday (08:42 AM to 04:42 PM) and Saturdays (07:00 AM to 03:00 PM), offering opportunities for overtime.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary is £25,201 per annum (£12.71 per hour)
  • After six months, salary increases to £27,561 per annum (£13.94 per hour)
  • Potential total earnings up to £30,000 annually based on a 38-hour workweek plus overtime
  • Additional premium pay of £4.39 per hour on Saturdays for contracted hours
  • Paid overtime on weekdays and weekends
  • Additional allowances include a monthly non-pensionable payment amounting to £903.84 per year and a weekly driving allowance of £26.73

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sorting parcels and organizing delivery routes efficiently
  • Performing necessary vehicle safety checks to ensure compliance and safety
  • Collecting and delivering parcels to various residential and commercial addresses
  • Delivering dependable and courteous service, respecting the importance of each parcel—be it a gift or vital business correspondence

Candidate Requirements

  • Hold a full manual UK driving license (Category B entitlement for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes) registered to the candidate’s current address with no more than six penalty points
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms
  • Reliable, approachable, and customer-service oriented individual
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
