Job Overview

We seek a devoted Chef based in Nelson, responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals that support the wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents. This role extends beyond conventional kitchen duties to include crafting café menus and catering to diverse dietary needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook set meals delivered to residents unable to visit the café.
  • Cook short order dishes for café guests.
  • Contribute creatively to developing the café's specials menu.
  • Adhere strictly to the approved Food Control Plan to maintain safety and quality.
  • Offer guidance and support to kitchen staff on food preparation techniques.
  • Bring creativity to fine dining and themed event catering within the village.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role working from Sunday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a professional cookery certificate at Level 3 or above.
  • Previous chef experience, ideally within aged care or residential retirement communities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Food Safety Plans.
  • A collaborative team player with a passion for mentoring colleagues in culinary skills.
