Bartender (Local Hire)

Overview

The position involves delivering high-quality food and beverage service to guests within the hotel, ensuring courteous, professional, and efficient treatment that aligns with Kempinski's distinguished standards. The goal is to drive sales and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrive promptly for duty, adhering strictly to the hotel's dress code and grooming standards, including wearing a clean, well-pressed uniform, polished shoes, and a nametag.
• Consistently provide professional, courteous, and efficient service throughout all duties at the assigned outlet.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all food and beverage offerings at the hotel to enable upselling and offer suitable alternatives.
• Monitor and manage supplies and equipment effectively to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Keep the workplace and surrounding areas tidy and organized at all times.
• Carry out opening and closing procedures for the outlet as established.
• Address guest enquiries courteously while promptly reporting complaints to supervisors and ensuring follow-up.
• Operate the POS system proficiently as trained and assigned.
• Strictly adhere to the hotel's policies on hygiene, safety, fire regulations, and health standards.
• Foster positive working relationships with colleagues within the department and hotel-wide.
• Participate actively in all staff meetings, departmental and hotel trainings.
• Perform additional reasonable duties as delegated by the Department Head or hotel management.
• Assist with scheduled inventories of products and equipment.
• Exhibit a positive, motivated attitude and maintain self-control in all situations.
• Understand the monthly profit and loss statements relevant to the department.
• Lead service delivery and act as a role model, ensuring flawless standards of service and communication within the team.
• Be well-versed in all service procedures in bars, lounges, and restaurants across the hotel.
• Have extensive knowledge of food ingredients and preparation to recommend appropriate drinks, including classic and trending cocktails.
• Control stock levels effectively, produce accurate cocktail costing, and provide excellent guest recommendations.
• Prepare numerous classic cocktails and standard long drinks expertly.
• Participate in a minimum of two national bartending competitions annually.
• Develop new drink recipes in response to guest preferences and fully comply with beverage guidelines.
• Demonstrate interest in local bar culture and nightlife to enhance guest experiences.
• Manage all bar operations comprehensively, including mise en place, cocktail production, cashiering, and shift-end duties.
• Complete internal training on upselling, complaint handling, and product knowledge.
• Continuously update knowledge on cocktail trends and bar culture.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of three years experience in a food and beverage service role.
• In-depth knowledge of beverages, including cocktails, liquors, and wines.
• Ability to perform as a Barista with strong coffee and espresso preparation skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain composure under pressure while devising rational solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capability to build and maintain strong working relationships with hotel staff, clients, and vendors.
• Effective task identification and delegation skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all work approaches.
• Commitment to safe, prudent, and structured work practices.
• Competence in operating computers and office equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
