About the Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineers specializing in mechanical aspects to join the AH-64 Apache helicopter sustainment team located in Townsville, Queensland. This permanent role offers a chance to contribute directly to Australia's defence capabilities by supporting the advanced attack helicopters used by the Australian Defence Force. The program focuses on enabling precision strike, armed reconnaissance, and close air support missions, thereby strengthening joint and land operations.

Main Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks on aircraft and components as authorized.
• Ensure supervisors inspect and approve checkpoints before proceeding.
• Complete all assigned and ancillary tasks thoroughly.
• Accurately document technical reports and records.
• Prioritize personal and subordinate tasks efficiently.
• Certify task completion by stamping documents, approved by the Responsible Manager and logged in Competency Log Books.
• Support Team Leaders with workplace assessments.
• Initiate and propose improvements for team and organizational effectiveness.
• Play a key role in maintaining Apache helicopter capabilities.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Certificate IV in Aero skills (Mechanical) or an equivalent trade qualification.
• Completion of Apache familiarisation training (Certificate of Airworthiness provided).
• Proven capability in taking initiative, managing priorities, and working under tight deadlines independently.
• Experience in cultivating effective working relationships within complex structures to meet team and organizational targets.
• Strong understanding of aviation Quality Assurance protocols, maintenance/modification procedures, and documentation standards.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations pertinent to aviation.
• Familiarity with technical manuals and publications for aeronautical products and system repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and directives.
• Certification in Working at Heights qualification.
• Must be an Australian citizen to satisfy defence security clearance requirements.
