Inventory Controller

About The Role

We are looking for a meticulous and highly organised Inventory Controller to join our team in Christchurch. This key position supports accurate inventory management and smooth stock flow within a dynamic warehouse environment. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will oversee inventory accuracy, stock movements, cycle counts, reconciliations, variance investigations, and reporting, all managed through the BPCS system.

This role requires hands-on involvement in both office and warehouse activities, strong analytical skills, and collaboration across warehouse, procurement, planning, and operations teams. It is perfect for an experienced inventory specialist eager to take ownership of stock integrity, champion accountability, continuous improvement, and develop leadership skills within a global company.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all inventory transactions, maintaining excellent stock integrity.
• Lead scheduled cycle counts, stock audits, and reconciliations aligned with company standards.
• Maintain accurate racking location details in BPCS, including correct labels, barcodes, and physical storage updates.
• Manage goods receipts, put-away tasks, monitor DRP transactions and inter-company stock transfers, ensuring proper and prompt BPCS entries.
• Investigate stock accuracy discrepancies and transaction anomalies, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
• Collaborate with warehouse, procurement, and planning to resolve stock issues, maintain ideal inventory levels, and minimize stockouts and overstocks.
• Confirm inventory movement records are precise, reconciled, and traceable while recommending system and process enhancements when needed.
• Prepare detailed reports on inventory accuracy, summarize variances, and propose improvements.
• Drive root-cause investigations for persistent inventory issues and support ongoing initiatives to boost inventory control, workflow efficiency, and warehouse performance.
• Provide operational assistance to the warehouse during peak periods or staff shortages and undertake other duties supporting business operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in inventory management, ideally in manufacturing, construction, plumbing product distribution, or related sectors.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience with ERP platforms like BPCS and Nexus inventory management systems is highly advantageous.
• Possession of current Counterbalance Forklift and Reach Truck licences is mandatory.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to coordinate effectively across various teams.
• Highly organised, analytical, and attentive to detail with commitment to data accuracy and inventory integrity.
• Familiarity with supply chain protocols including stock replenishment, forecasting, and demand planning.
• Demonstrated capability to analyze discrepancies, uncover root causes, and apply effective corrective responses.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Team player with leadership skills to foster positive working relationships and influence across departments.
