Position Overview

The Inventory Controller will be an essential member of the Site Supply Chain team, primarily responsible for ensuring robust inventory oversight, optimization, and financial governance across onsite and external warehouse operations within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role manages accurate inventory records, mitigates inventory-related financial risks, promotes working capital improvements, and facilitates the smooth flow of materials from suppliers to customers.

Key Duties

• Lead and oversee inventory governance activities to guarantee accuracy, transparency, and control throughout the supply chain at both onsite and external storage sites.
• Manage the Slow Moving and Obsolete Inventory (SLOB) processes by compiling reports, performing analyses, coordinating with stakeholders, tracking actions, and conducting governance reviews, aiming to reduce write-offs and enhance working capital efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Finance to monitor inventory valuation, provisions, write-offs, reserves, cost-saving opportunities, and financial risks.
• Develop, track, and communicate inventory-related KPIs, including inventory turnover, aging, accuracy, SLOB metrics, cycle count adherence, expiry management, working capital, and customer service impact.
• Drive inventory optimization efforts for raw materials, packaging components, work-in-progress, and finished goods, balancing reductions in excess stock with maintaining customer satisfaction and production continuity.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction, process streamlining, data quality enhancement, planning optimization, warehouse efficiency, and overall supply chain performance.
• Monitor and manage at-risk inventory categories, such as expiring, excess, blocked, quarantined, rejected, or obsolete materials, enforcing timely disposition and risk mitigation actions.
• Conduct regular on-site observations and process assessments (Gemba walks) to identify inventory challenges, inefficiencies, compliance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support compliance activities including audits, investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and adherence to GMP, GDP, EHS, financial controls, and site procedures.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Customer Service, Warehouse Operations, and external partners to optimize inventory investment, meet operational needs, and deliver excellent customer service.
• Maintain and enhance inventory management procedures, reporting tools, master data governance, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and training resources.
• Assist in business continuity and risk management by identifying inventory-related risks, supply chain constraints, capacity issues, and opportunities to improve supply chain resilience.
• Serve as the site's inventory management subject matter expert, delivering data-driven insights and guidance to support both operational and strategic decision-making.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management, materials management, planning, warehouse operations, or supply chain within a manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience in managing inventory performance, maintaining stock accuracy, performing inventory analyses, and handling periodic reporting tasks.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control practices, working capital management, inventory valuation methods, stock optimization techniques, and relevant financial metrics.
• Analytical aptitude to interpret complex inventory data, identify root causes of issues, and implement sustainable corrective measures and process enhancements.
• Experience collaborating across departments including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Procurement, and Warehouse Operations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP, coupled with advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and KPI monitoring.
• Excellent communication abilities and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing decision-making across various organizational levels.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), quality systems, compliance standards, and inventory controls applicable to regulated manufacturing.
• Capability to juggle multiple priorities without compromising attention to detail and data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with over 5 years of experience in inventory management, materials planning, supply chain analytics, warehouse operations, or manufacturing support.
• Industry experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare, or similarly regulated manufacturing sectors.
• Advanced understanding of inventory accounting, valuation, financial reporting implications, reserves management, and strategies to improve working capital.
• Track record of leading inventory reduction, working capital management, supply chain optimization, Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement projects.
• Expertise with SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA including inventory management, reporting, material master data maintenance, and supply chain transactions.
• Experience supporting audits, inventory investigations, deviation handling, CAPA implementation, and regulatory compliance inspections.
• Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes including procurement, planning, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and customer fulfillment.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement credential.
• Proven ability to develop business cases and spearhead cross-functional initiatives that yield measurable operational and financial improvements.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is approximately EUR 48,826 to EUR 67,136.30 and will be finalized based on relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity. Further details regarding the total compensation package will be provided during the recruitment process. Salary may vary by location in accordance with local market conditions and pay transparency regulations.
