Job description

Role Overview

We seek a skilled Toolmaker to become a vital member of our active engineering team located in Worcester. This permanent, full-time position involves hands-on responsibilities in crafting, assembling, repairing, and adjusting specialist tooling for environments demanding high precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble various tooling types following engineering drawings and models.
  • Operate standard toolroom machinery and equipment.
  • Fit and fine-tune precision components accurately.
  • Perform bench tasks including polishing, grinding, and drilling.
  • Verify the quality and correctness of components and finished tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve tooling issues during testing and production.
  • Assist in the testing and setup of newly introduced tools.
  • Modify and repair existing tooling to maintain operational standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams regarding necessary adjustments or improvements.
  • Provide feedback on operational challenges and suggest enhancements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in toolmaking or comparable engineering roles.
  • Background in engineering disciplines, toolmaking, or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong manual skills in fitting and assembling components.
  • Competency in interpreting and working from engineering drawings.
  • Experience managing tasks involving tight measurement tolerances.
  • Hands-on involvement in making, repairing, or altering tooling equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of machining and toolroom operational processes.
  • Proficiency using various measuring devices.
  • Practical, solution-oriented approach to technical challenges.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Capable of both independent work and contributing effectively within teams.

Experience with molds, dies, press tools, or other specialized tooling is advantageous but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range from £45,000 to £55,000 annually, contingent upon experience.
